63% of the actual total mileage on the Russian federal highways accounts on logistics companies with HGVs exceeding 12 tonnes of gross vehicle weight

Statistics on the results of the first year of operation of the state system “Platon” showed that professional logistics companies were leading in terms of intensity of use of federal highways (63% of the total mileage). The share of carriers providing the delivery of goods for various sectors of the economy is much lower: 12% – trade, 7% – construction and production of agricultural products, 6% – industrial production, 2% – mining and other industries. This was announced by Anton Zamkov, General Director of the “Platon” system operator, RT-Invest Transport System LLC, at the conference “Year of the System “Platon”: Results of Work and Prospects for Development” at the Transport of Russia – 2016 Forum.

“267 thousand carriers were registered, with more than 780 thousand HGVs exceeding 12 tonnes of gross vehicle weight in the general fleet. Thanks to the control over violators that is provided by the traffic police and the Federal Transportation Inspection Service, we note the daily increase in the registration of 200 to 560 more HGVs, which are owned mostly by private individuals. The vast majority of large Russian companies have been registered. Today, 60% of vehicles registered in the “Platon” system belong to private individuals, 20% to companies and sole traders,” Anton Zamkov noted.

At the exhibition-forum “Transport of Russia – 2016″ an interactive stand of the “Platon” system was presented, in particular, the monitoring system was demonstrated—video transmission in the online mode from the current 194 frames and 100 mobile patrols with the photographic fixation of all passing HGVs. The planned modernisation of the control system is going on. By July of next year, the number of frames on all Russian federal highways will increase up to 491 structures. The stand presented key statistics on the results of the first year of the “Platon” system.
