Based on the results of the online voting of drivers and HGV owners within the framework of the All-Russia People’s Front project “Road inspection by All-Russia People’s Front/ Map of Worn Down Roads”, the Federal Road Transport Agency determined ten federal highways that are being repaired at the expense of the state system “Platon”.
Participation in the formation of the targeted list on the project website www.dorogi-onf.ru/truckers/ was attended by more than four thousand representatives of the freight transportation market. All requests for road repair were accepted by the Federal Road Transport Agency. Under this programme, more than 700 kilometres of roads will be repaired (including capital repair). The works are to be carried out on the routes P-504 “Kolyma” in the territory of the Magadan Region and Yakutia, M-5 “Ural” in the Ryazan Region, M-10 “Rossiya” in the Novgorod Region, A-146 in the Krasnodar Territory, R-243 Kirov-Sharya -Perm, P-258 in Trans-Baikal Territory, R-297 “Amur” and A-360 “Lena” in the Far East, A-181 “Scandinavia” from Vyborg to Svetogorsk in the Leningrad Region and on access roads to Izhevsk and Perm.
“The roads chosen by the freight forwarders will be repaired at the expense of the state system “Platon”. This method of forming a plan for repairing highways ensures the fair distribution of fees in the system. With the help of voting and the map of the All-Russian People’s Front, carriers will choose roads and control where their payment for the use of road infrastructure went,” said Maksim Sokolov, the Minister of Transport of Russia.
Since the launch of the “Platon” system, freight forwarders have transferred more than 33.2 billion roubles to the state budget to offset the damage caused to Russian federal highways by the HGVs. Last year, the Government of the Russian Federation allocated the first collected funds for urgent repairs of more than a thousand kilometres of the most problematic roads in 40 cities and regions of the country. In addition, financing was provided for the repair of 24 emergency bridges and construction of 7 new bridges.
The further distribution of the funds collected by the “Platon” system into the country’s road fund will be carried out taking into account the opinion of the freight forwarders on the website of the “Road inspection by All-Russia People’s Front/Map of Worn Down Roads”. Looking back, the corresponding offer of freight forwarders in March of this year was supported by Dmitry Medvedev, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. The Federal Road Transport Agency and the All-Russian People’s Front urge carriers to continue their active participation in voting to improve the effectiveness of forming plans for repair of federal highways.
“After traveling all over the country and more than once, we studied the situation not only on federal routes but also on regional and local roads. We are convinced that there are many more worn down roads and places of traffic congestion throughout the country. The solution of road problems will depend on the active participation of citizens. Solution to problems with the Russian roads begins with a single step. In our case, this step is a visit to the website of the federal project “Road inspection by All-Russia People’s Front/ Map of Worn Down Roads” to leave a message about broken sections, which require urgent repair. In any case, those who take part in our project will benefit from this,” said Alexander Vasiliev, the project coordinator, State Duma deputy.
