Experts recognised the “Platon” system as the first step towards digitalisation of the entire freight industry

The state system “Platon” is an important and large-scale step towards digitalisation of the entire truck haulage industry. Before the introduction of the system, digitalisation occurred spontaneously: at the level of individual transport companies and services, covering certain regions of the country and a small part of the market. This was considered within the framework of the discussion “Digitalisation of Road Transport” at the forum “The Territory of Meanings on Klyazma” by Andrey Ionin, member of the Expert Council under the Government of the Russian Federation and the Inter-sectoral Expert Council for the Development of the Truck and Road Industry.

The panel discussion hosted Elena Ignatenkova, Commercial Director of the state-owned operator of the state system “Platon”, Danil Rudakov, Founder and General Director of Deliver online freight service, Petr Shkumatov, coordinator of the Society of Blue Buckets, Ivan Pekshev, Founder and General Director of CarCoin, Gleb Erokhin, Founder and Head of the company Vse Evakuatory Rossii, Vladimir Tyan, General Director of Sovtransavto. The discussion was held within the framework of the change of young specialists of the transport industry, which was attended by more than a thousand participants from 60 regions of the country. Its main slogan was the question: “New Logistics: Are You Ready?”

“Logistics as well as IT becomes the platform of systemic transformations for the whole world, both of these industries cease to be a thing in itself, becoming the basis for the formation of the digital economy of the future. The digital revolution in road transport has begun. For our country, occupying the largest territory in the world, these are new opportunities for increasing the efficiency of the national economy, territorial development, creation of efficient and safe digital transport corridors in Eurasia,” Mr. Ionin said.

Elena Ignatenkova stressed that the “Platon” system allowed the state to get reliable information on traffic flows, condition and loading of roads on-line. According to her, now the system accumulates a large amount of various data that should become the core of the service ecosystem on Russian transport, an open platform for creating new information services in the interests of truckers and consignors, as well as solving key tasks of the state for modernising and improving the efficiency of the entire transport industry of the country.

Freight forwarders have registered more than 885 thousand vehicles exceeding 12 tonnes of gross vehicle weight in the “Platon” system.
