The millionth HGV was registered in the ETC System «Platon»

The number of vehicles registered in the “Platon” governmental system reached one million. The owner of the “anniversary” heavy vehicle became a carrier from the Moscow Region. Today, during his registration and obtaining of the on-board device, he received memorable gifts and a certificate for installation of unique digital equipment for business development.

The owner of the “millionth” heavy vehicle will become the first one who will test on-board devices with additional digital services. Using such equipment, he will be able to receive online information, for example, about the condition of all vehicle units and signals of intentional body or cab opening. Such on-board device will contribute to higher traffic safety of the vehicle and cargo safety, as well as will ensure digitalization of all freight carriage processes.

Commenting registration of the millionth heavy vehicle, Evgeny Ditrikh, Minister of Transport of Russia, said that this year the payment made by carriers through Platon system would be used to repair federal roads. “Road R-243 from Kostroma to Perm will be fully rendered compliant with the standards by the end of 2020. It was a regional road just a while ago and complied with the standards by one third only. Now, hundreds of vehicles, including cargo carriers, drive along this road every year,” he said.

Since the launch of the “Platon” system, freight forwarders have transferred more than 50 billion roubles to the state budget to offset the damage caused to Russian federal highways by the HGVs. The Government of the Russian Federation used the collected funds for urgent repair of two thousand kilometers of roads. In addition, financing was provided for the repair of 24 emergency bridges and construction of 7 new bridges. The further distribution of the funds collected by the “Platon” system into the road fund will be carried out taking into account the opinion of the freight forwarders on the website of the “Road inspection by All-Russia People’s Front/Map of Worn Down Roads”.

Most Russian freight forwarders have installed free-of-charge on-board units. At the moment, over 770 thousand units have been issued. Route maps are obtained mainly by foreign freight forwarders.
